Recruit Training Programme

The Recruit Training Programme is organized in a series of modules. The course contains core elements in which a fire fighter must know in relation to his / her task in the fire brigade.

The Training Programme includes: 

§         Orientation

§         Breathing Apparatus

§         Ladder

§         Fire hose / stream evolution

§         Forcible entry tool handling

§         Building Construction

§         Basic extrication and rescue

§         Engine / Pump Operators

§         Fire Behaviour

§         Basic first aid

Recruits are divided into groups of about 5 or 6 firefighters. Each who will together as a team  At all stages of training, the recruits’ performance is continually assessed and evaluated. Each recruit receives regular feedback from a dedicated training officer.
